What can I do if I think myself, a family member or friend has a gambling problem?
Every IGA member strongly advocates that any person who chooses to go to a casino does so with discretionary dollars earmarked for entertainment. However, there are a number of resources and treatment programs to help the one percent of individuals experiencing compulsive disorders. In fact, a percentage of the tax revenue the gaming industry pays to the state, more than $5 million, is designated to fund the Iowa Gambling Treatment program. These dollars fund the 1-800-BETSOFF helpline, gambling addiction treatment centers, necessary advertising and educational materials.

Each casino property also works with the treatment providers on a voluntary self-exclusion TRESPASS program. A person can choose to ban himself or herself for life from a commercial casino, consenting to be removed or arrested for trespassing if they would return, and to forfeit any winnings, chips or slot credit at time of discovery. The form can be found online, as well as at all of the member casino properties or any of the Iowa Gambling Treatment providers.
